Tips & Tricks

Our clients are enthusiastic about the level of service and productivity they have received from the Computer Tutor Trouble Shooter.  Here are a few tips you may not be aware of.  Try them and let us know if they improved performance of your PC.
One of the most important things to remember if you are making changes to your computer is to create a Restore Point.  Although different operating systems vary the idea is the same.  

    1. Go to and click Start
    2. Click All Programs
    3. Click Accessories
    4. Click Systems Tools
    5. Click System Restore
    6. Click "open System Protection or "Create a restore point
    7. Click Create
    8. Give it a name
    9. Take your time and follow everything on each screen carefully

You should have a backup plan for your information, i.e. documents, music and photos.  If you have any questions call us.

If your PC computer is running slow and you don't have a "weird" messages come up try the following steps:

    1. Go to Start, click to open
    2. Click All Programs
    3. Click Accessories
    4. Click System Tools
    5. Click Disk Cleanup
    6. Check the boxes and be patient 

You can also speed things up be regularly deleting the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History from your browser.  An alternative is using a utility program such as CCleaner which has a free version available at 

    1. On Internet Explorer click the Tools tab
    2. Click Internet Options (on bottom of pull-down)
    3. Click the  Delete button
    4. Check the "Preserve Favorites website data," "Temporary Internet files,"
        "Cookies," History" and if on tab the "InPrivate Filtering data" boxes
    5. Click the Delete button      
Check your list of programs in the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.  If you know that you are not using a program and you know that it is not going to be used, remove it.  If you have any questions please call us.
